According to the Dictionary.com, home is a noun that refers to the place where a person or animal lives. Home can also mean a location where something is native or very common. Home is also used as an adverb to describe something that occurs to, toward, or at a home1.

In general, home is more than just a physical space. It is a place where people feel safe and comfortable. It is where people can be themselves and feel like they belong2

There are many benefits of owning a home. Historically, the biggest advantage of owning a home is long-term financial security. For decades, home ownership in America represented stability because the housing market almost always went up in value, rewarding homeowners with equity and also a way to borrow money, should the need arise1.

Other benefits include tax benefits and other financial benefits to home ownership. According to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, the average U.S. home price grew a staggering 80% from 2012 to 2022. For many homeowners who opted to sell during the past decade, the market growth provided remarkable equity1.

Another benefit of owning a home is the ability and freedom to make changes. Whether it’s something as simple as painting a bedroom or something complex such as a complete kitchen remodel, when you own a home you can make changes as you see fit2.

A clean home can also have many benefits such as increased productivity at home (and work), reduced stress levels, improved safety and reduced allergy symptoms3.

When I was a little boy aged 7 and living with my grandparents in the True North Of Germany between Hamburg and Denmark, my Granny used to say: Never ever sell LAND …

No, you don’t have to be rich to own your own house. Historically, the biggest advantage of owning a home is long-term financial security. For decades, home ownership in America represented stability because the housing market almost always went up in value, rewarding homeowners with equity and also a way to borrow money, should the need arise1.

There are many programs available that can help you buy a home with little or no down payment. For example, the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) offers loans with as little as 3.5% down payment2.

Another option is to look for homes in less expensive areas or smaller homes that are more affordable2.

Some of my former students in Germany, Namibia and Australia have asked me when studying the US – Literature written by Hemingway or John Dos Passos or Scott Fitzgerald: Do I first have to become RICH to be happy?

Interesting question for sure …. And my answer as an Educator was not the easiest one:

  1. Why do you ask this question, think first then ask!
  2. What means RICH for you?
  3. What means SUCCESS for you?
  4. What means Happiness for you?

Ach, wer da mitreisen koennte …. (Eichendorf)

A Melodic Journey in Rural Australia

As an avid traveler and enthusiast of country music, my adventure led me to the charming town of Tamworth in rural Australia, where I spent an exhilarating 10 days immersed in the annual Tamworth Country Music Festival. This report aims to share my experiences and impressions of this iconic festival, which takes place every January and attracts country music lovers from all corners of the globe.

The Tamworth Country Music Festival exudes an infectious energy and vibrant atmosphere that permeates the entire town. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by the sight of bustling streets adorned with colorful banners, live performances echoing through the air, and enthusiastic festival-goers donning cowboy boots and wide-brimmed hats. The palpable excitement and sense of camaraderie created an immersive environment that was impossible not to be swept up in.

One of the festival’s highlights was the sheer abundance of performances taking place across multiple stages and venues throughout the town. From large outdoor concerts featuring renowned artists to intimate acoustic sessions in cozy cafes, the festival catered to a diverse range of musical tastes. I had the opportunity to witness both established stars and emerging talents, each showcasing their unique style and contributing to the rich tapestry of Australian country music.

The Tamworth Country Music Festival provided a platform for the celebration of Australian talent, both established and emerging. I was thoroughly impressed by the caliber of musicianship and artistry displayed by local Australian country music artists. Their heartfelt performances and authentic storytelling resonated deeply with the audiences, showcasing the depth and richness of the country’s musical heritage.

At the heart of the festival was a strong sense of community, fostering connections between artists, fans, and industry professionals. This communal spirit was evident in the numerous impromptu jam sessions and collaborations that occurred throughout the festival. Musicians, both renowned and lesser-known, eagerly shared their talents, creating a collective harmony that transcended boundaries and united everyone in the universal language of music.

Beyond the music, the Tamworth Country Music Festival offered a unique opportunity to immerse myself in Australian rural culture. Local artisans, craftsmen, and food vendors showcased their wares, providing a glimpse into the region’s rich heritage and traditions. I relished the chance to sample traditional Australian cuisine, engage in lively conversations with locals, and witness the genuine warmth and hospitality that embodies the Australian spirit.
